B&W Summer

I decided this summer to do a lot of photography in monochrome (aka, black and white). I find this kind of photography much prettier than color photography. Something about the sharp contrasts and details that black and white photography brings out in each picture draws me to it. I still focus a lot on textures, but now I am finding that objects such as flowers and water are also fun to take pictures of. I work most of the days of the week, and am caught up in lots of Capstone stuff, but with this last month of summer, I'm going to try to really push myself and get the perfect shots I've been wanting for quite some time.

Summer Memories

My goal for the summer is to do more than just lay around and wait until the last minute to do the few assignments I will have over the summer, especially when it comes to photography. Something that I have been looking to do the past few summers is to take my camera along with me everywhere that I go. Then, at the end of each week, I would like to post my favorite shots on my own blog. This way I can look back at the end of the summer at all of my adventures that took place.

I am already aware of a few things I will be embarking on this summer including Disney World, Ft. Meyers and hopefully visiting Boston for the first time. I'm so excited to be able to document everthing that I am experiencing.

Hopefully you guys are inspired by this and would be willing try something similar as well.

The Anticipation is KIlling Me!!

We are almost there ladies; summer is right around the corner.  As we go our separate ways for the summer, having our own adventures we will always have something that is tying us together, this page and the anticipation for next year in AP Photo. When we go on vacations or if we stay home, we will be able to share what we are seeing and what we are feeling. We are able to share the thing that we love the most and that is photography. Even though you have seen what you have done and how you see your work you can always put it on here and see how people react to it. It is always good to have another perspective on your work so it can help you in the long one. So let’s make this summer fun.

Two people still have work to do to get hooked in. Someone else needs to choose an ID pic. Don't be  slacker! Don't miss any of the chatter or the fun. Don't be someone who just lets this site go on without them.If you need help say so and we will help you. But you definitely want to get notifications when things are posted. We want to see and read about what everyone is doing. Puh-leez!!

Can it PLEASE be summer already?!!

So here we are, ready to embark on that great journey, better known as summer vacation.
It's like standing on the edge of a great cliff, looking out at the wonder that fills our eyes and our imaginations. Our bare toes curl around the edge of that cliff, wiggling with the anticipation of what's to come, dying to spend their time in the normally school-forbidden comfort of flip-flops... or no shoes at all!
In slightly more than a week, that freedom is ours again. (YAY! *doin' the happy dance right now*) But there is also much that can be accomplished. I have great expectations for this amazing group.
My hope is that you don't succomb to total abandon - although that would be suh-weet! Instead my urging is to revel in the slower more relaxed ambiance of the warm breezes, getting in touch with your inner voice. Now you have time. There is time to read, time to "shoot the shot", time to reflect.
Reflect on who you are, where you're going, and how you're going to make all that happen.
Yes! You are the one who has that power. You are the one who gets to decide. But once you decide, you have to make it happen. And that's where the fun (and yes, sometimes frustration) comes into play.
I've opened this blog in the hope that it will be a way for us to keep in touch with each other during the time we are apart. I am hoping that you each log on and contribute on a regular basis. Tell us what's happening, what you're doing, what you're creating, what you're learning, where you're going. Reading about what each of us is doing should make it easier to get motivated and stay motivated about working this summer.
Here's my challenge to you: don't let your camera sit idle, collecting dust on its lens. Don't be someone who comes back in the fall wishing she had put time into getting some photos done ahead of time. Instead, come into class with a flashdrive full of new things to share so that your senior year begins as the exciting, fulfilling and rewarding year it is meant to be.

Right now, you are on the edge of that summer cliff, gazing out onto all the possibilities that exist. Will you make the leap? Or will you just stand there?
